Shared Cost or Risk Sharing
Shared cost pricing is a way to balance the cost of multiple treatments. The cost of treatments are shared among the people electing the treatment option and taking a risk that a pregnancy in the first treatment cycle will cost more money. Shared cost pricing is a way to offset the high cost of in vitro fertilization treatments and can be a good idea as long as the benefit is for the patient and not as a revenue generating technique for the clinic. Under a risk shared option, patients will pay more for a single cycle of IVF, but have the option to undergo more than one treatment for limited additional cost if the first treatment is unsuccessful. Many clinics offer these risk shared options, but patients must look closely at what things are covered by these plans and what things aren't covered. Often clinics will not include all of the testing or necessary services. If you do not have a good understanding of the treatments, you could end up paying more for the treatment than needed. Our approach to pricing is straight forward. With the exception of insurance, we can often give you a reasonably accurate quote of your actual costs. We do not cloak or disguise fees. Be aware of clinics that will not quote you reliable and all inclusive costs.
